PU CAD organizes 4th int’l Islamic festival and conference


LAHORE: (Saturday, February 22, 2025): Punjab University College of Arts and Design organized 4th Islamic International Festival and International Conference on ‘Islamic Arts and Architecture’ here on Saturday. On this occasion, Representative of the Organization of Islamic Countries Prof Dr Mahmood Erol Kılıç was the chief guest while PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Founder of the Islamic Art Festival Irfan Ahmed Qureshi, Architect and scholar Kamil Khan Mumtaz, CAD Principal Prof Dr Samina Nasim, scholars, artists, faculty members and a large number of students were also present.

The participants from Pakistan and countries gathered to celebrate and discuss the rich heritage of Islamic art and architecture. The highlight of the event was the presence of Prof Dr Mahmood Erol Kılıç, who also serves as the Director General of Islamic History, Art, and Culture in Istanbul, Turkiye. His insights and contributions added significant value to the conference discussions. PU VC Dr Muhammad Ali expressed his deep admiration for the outstanding efforts of the organizers and participants, acknowledging the impact of such an initiative in promoting the cultural and historical richness of Islamic art and architecture. The event continued with a remarkable art exhibition, showcasing the works of many renowned artists and figures from higher academia. Dr Samina said that CAD remains committed to fostering academic excellence and cultural exchange, and this conference was yet another milestone in its journey of celebrating the intellectual and artistic. She lauded the efforts of her dedicated team, all of whom played key roles in ensuring the event's success.
